    Oklahoma City Ballet ….on the Move

    OKC Council Honors Ballet Company’s Commitment
    and Thrilling New Season

    Oklahoma City, OK—- Dancers with the Oklahoma City Ballet will pull on their pointe shoes at City Hall September 1st to celebrate the opening of the new ballet season with a performance on the steps of City Hall, the first performance is at 12 noon and another is at 12:45 p.m.  The Oklahoma City Council will declare September 1st “Oklahoma City Ballet Day” in honor of the ballet company that has truly transformed itself in the last year, emerging as one of the premiere developing ballet companies in the United States.

    “Oklahoma City is a city on the move,” said Mayor Mick Cornett. “We have made a commitment to excellence, and are delighted to honor the Oklahoma City Ballet and its company of talented dancers who demonstrate excellence with each rehearsal and performance. Their strength and beauty underscores the city’s commitment to focus a spotlight on the fine arts.”

    “We are thrilled with this distinction and honor,” said Oklahoma City Ballet Artistic Director Robert Mills. “We are Oklahoma City’s Ballet company, with dancers who are from right here in Oklahoma, as well as around the United States and world. With the new addition of Executive Director John Krasno, and his impressive track record and valued expertise, the season before us promises to be one of the best.” The Oklahoma City Ballet’s ’09-’10 season features The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in October, the timeless and beautiful Nutcracker in December, one of the most famous ballets of all time, Giselle in February, a choreographic showcase called Future Voices in March, and rounding out the season will be THR3E by THR3E, a show that premieres three contemporary works by nationally and internationally recognized choreographers Lee-Wei Chao, Helen Pickett, and Robert Mills.
